Default 20 Center Console

Looking for a little advice from someone out there.... There is a 20' center console that just went up for sale on my street. It's a 70 something hull with a 98 Mariner 125 with low hours. The foredeck is soft and needs to be replaced but there is no other visable rot or soft spots. The transom is solid and the outer hull is also in good shape. Trailer is included as well. My questions are what kind of money is a boat like this worth and is there anything else that I should be looking out for? I would appreciate any honest advice ASAP, Thanks.

Since you are in a hurry, I will give my opinion although I am definitely not a guru, but I have been following Seacraft prices very closely for a couple years.

I am pretty sure everyone will tell you two things - that it depends, and that you should expect to find more problems after you buy the boat. If you want an idea of what they usually sell for, just check boattraderonline.com or look at the older ads here. You are lucky to find one on your own street, most of them are 800 miles from me and I would have to cough up a grand just to pay for gas to go get one in Florida. If what everyone says is true, they go for a bit more up north in your area. You did not say whether the boat had a 20 or 25 inch transom. If it is 20", you are probably going to end up wanting to rebuild it ($$$) even if it is in good shape. You didn't say whether the gas tank was original or what kind of shape the trailer was in (mine eats a set of tires a year). Wiring? Anyway, I'm just gonna give my best guesstimate and say that it would probably be in the ballpark of $9k which IMOHO would be a overpriced since the floor will have to be rebuilt. Good luck whatever you decide.

down south in Miami the pricing may be a bit different.
I purchased a 1971 20CC for $4000 but it needed to replace the transom $ 1700. It came with a 1998 200 Merc in great shape and an aluminum trailer.
Afterwards it depends the $$ you want to put in it as far as accesories.

I pulled the trigger last week, it's mine. Looks like I'll fish it and do the work this winter. Trying to post the picture but no luck. [image]http://photobucket.com/albums/b56/mcw1722/?action=view&current=RandR.jpg[/image]
