I need to replace the thru hull for the baitwell on my 23. What setup have you all used going first thru the hull bottom, then the bilge void then then into the baitwell? Thruhull? With Seacock?
Thanks, John

Ha John
I re did my live well and set it up like the newer 23 CC with the live well just behind the leaning post seat. I made a 34 gal live well on a platform the same height as the gas tank. I have a scoop going through the bottom of the hull where the original scoop was I believe ¾” diameter then to a cut off valve and then to a 500 gal pump the hose enters the tank approx 2/3 of the way up the tank I have a bottom drain with a cut off valve and a large drain line approx 5” from the top of the tank that drains out the transom close to the bottom of the transom this set up works great for me. I installed a variable timing on/off switch that controls the amount of time the pump stays on. I found that fresh salt water coming in and going out at 500 gph works much better that a re circulating system. Can keep 200 bait nice and alive with no problems this way. The old thru hull was inside the livewell right?? If you are going to use the original livewell I would glass those holes over and put a scoop and ball valve as your supply for the livewell pump (and maybe a saltwater wash down) in the bilge, outside of the well. You dont want that hardware and hose running through the middle of the well. |
