"Full Of Foam" is this normal on a 73 20'

Currently redecking a 20' 73 and noticed that everything under the deck is foam, not just the stringers, every open space under the deck. It didn't help with the removal of the rotted fuel cell but with the help of the sawsaw mission completed. This foam is origanal, no indacation of the deck ever been removed. If anyone has insight, it would be appreciated

When I replaced the deck on my 70 20, I pressure cleaned all
of the old foam out. For the most part it was water logged.
After I installed the new deck, I used a hole saw and cut
2 inch holes about 2 feet apart and poured in new 2 part foam. The plugs from the hole saw were used to keep the foam from coming out of the hole. I stood on the plugs until the foam kicked. Then glassed over the entire deck.
Pressure treated 3/4 is what I used. probably over kill,
but the deck is solid as a rock to this day. I restored
ole' "No Bones" in 93. And still lookin good. Good Luck!!

Kirby, I only had foam in the stringers of my 72'. If it wasn't closed cell foam your boat probably weighed 3 times as much as it should have. [img]/images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img]
