Default Another new guy pokin' around...

Greetings and salutations.
I am new around here and wanted to introduce myself. I grew up in FL and was always around boats. I really enjoyed them. I left FL right after high school, and though there have been short periods of living in FL since, none have been very long. About a year ago, I moved back for good...missed it too much.
In the time I have been back, I have been looking for a boat. I have looked at all types and kinds, been to boats shows and to factories. And yet, I still do not have a boat. I have several that I like, but for one reason or another, things just don't pan out.
Anyway, I have recently been toying with the idea of (maybe)getting with my father to buy a boat. He is getting older, and it would be a good way for us to spend time together, doing something productive, and me learning every last thing I can from him while he is still around.
To that end, I have started looking closer at some of the older, better built hulls that are around, like the Potter built Seacrafts. Though it would be nice to get one that is usable right away, it would also be ok if it needed some TLC. It would be a project for us.
Well, I guess that's enough for now. I will be spending a few days next week with my folks. I hope to discuss this idea at length with them. I really do like the lines of the older Seacrafts...and I think my dad would appreciate them to...I will be around now and again. Thanks for the opportunity, and hopefully, the forth-coming help on renovating a Seacraft. Peace.

Welcome. What size and model are you looking for? Go to boattrader and yacht trader and do searches on seacraft and sea craft (two words) also craigs list and e-bay

Good luck

Well, we are looking for something in the 18-23 foot range, preferably with a small cabin. Nothing with an I/O, an outboard is preferable. I was just visiting with my dad, and we started the search process. I really do like the lines of the Seacrafts, but the decision will also have something to do with timing and price. We have not necessarily agreed upon a top price for the boat, but the less we can spend the better. I'm thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of $5K...boat/motor/trailer.
Thanks again for the info and advice!
