Default 1979 23ft Seacraft w/305

Hello,
New to the site but have a question. I found a 23ft 1979 Seacraft for sale with a new 305 in it. The hull is in perfect shape but different from the ones I am seeing on this site. The hull looks like an imitation wood hull. Does anyone have info or opinions that would help me along. He is asking $8500 and I would really like to jump at it if everything is in line.
Thanks,
Scott Sutherland

Welcome Pat to CSC.com

The hull numbers will tell you the truth. They are located on the transom starboard side.
If it is 1979 SeaCraft it will start with "SEC" and the last two digits will be "78" or "79"

Grady-White, Penn Yann a few others used to have hulls like that back in the 70's, but I've never seen a SC with that description. Check the Hull ID like Capt.Chuck said.

Scott - I bet you saw that boat in Gautier, MS... I saw it the other day and stopped by to take a look.

The HIN is rivited to the port side of the stern and it did not start with SEC - Seems like it started with the letter "V" which led me to believe that it is not a SeaCraft. The HIN was engraved on a piece of black plastic. I wanted to take some pics of the boat and post them on the site for some expert opinions but did not my camera with me. It has a standard high rail on the bow (not a recesed SeaCraft style rail)and the bow has a big rise to it, very unlike a SeaCraft. It does have old SeaCraft decals even including the "SeaCraft" swirl.

If it is a true SeaCraft it is a "rare one of a kind".. I tend to believe it is a Classic SeaCraft wanabe... but I am no expert.

I'm no expert, but the interior looked a lot like the 23ft SC's I've seen on this site. Did they make any special hulls for the government or other companies?

Scott - that sure looks like it!!!!

It had the fuel fill on the top of the transom.. fuel vent on the transom. I'm not sure if that is how any of the inboard SeaCrafts are??

Yea, I saw the same boat you are describing a couple of years ago and I asked the same question here on CSC. It's an imposter. I think that the guy’s name that owns it is Bo Speed.
