Boat Insurance - Some Info
I got insurance for my restored, 23' 1975 Tsunami. Getting the type of insuramce I wanted was not easy - no one wanted to insure it for it's full replacment value. Boat US - I have nothing good to say about them at all ! I would not recommend doing business with them. I'll leave it at that. I found a local guy who took the time to explain what I needed to do to get the proper insurance. In the nutshell; if you restored your boat, you want to get something called " Agreed Value " for your restored boat. This way, if G*D forbid something happens, you will get what you put into it, i.e. $25-30K. A recent survey is required. Do not get something called " Actual Cash Value " - this is where if something happens to your boat, you are only entitled to what the 'blue book" or some other 'mysterious' underwriting calculation is. My boat would be insured for $11K under that type of policy. My boat has over $25K into it - not counting all the labor I did and "professional" friends did with/for me. Hope this gives you guys a little insight. |

Re: Boat Insurance - Some Info
I had the same experience with Boat US. They are nothing
more than a bunch of sandle wearing blow boaters. I was able to insure with Nation Wide. My agent under stood the pain staking process of restoring a classic boat. Of which he has several old wood Chris Crafts.
