Where to mount my console????
I have a 1972 (thats what the title says... I assume its correct) SeaCraft, obviously a center console. Just finished putting in a new floor, modded stringers, 2.5L Mercruiser w/ Alpha-One outdrive.... etc. I now need to mount the center console and I'd like to put it in the stock location. The gas tank mounts underneith the console, if that matters. I have a hole in the floor for the wires but I still have some leeway on where exactly it goes, back-to-front. Does anyone have these measurements? The boat is about 19'6" (bow to transom, not including outdrive), not sure if that makes it a 19' model or a 20' model.
Any information you guys have would be greatly appreciated! I need to put this console in soon!

Re: Where to mount my console????
19'6" would make it a 20, and i would say play with it a little use what ever your going to use as a seat/post on and mess around with them in different places to you find one that is comfterble, since you have an i/o id guess youd want to mount it a little foward of those outboard ones to free up so space behind it, but the real answer is where ever you want

Where is the stock location????
I have the same question, for a different reason. I'm going to go look at a 1969 CC 20' soon (Ophelia kept me from leaving Nantucket today, we'll see about tomorrow and Sunday!), and the console is WAAAAAY back, like 1/3 of the way from the stern. Later boats (70's) seem to be quite a bit further forward. I like the idea of putting it right where you want it, but I'm also curious about where is stock, and the pros and cons of further back vs. further forward.

Re: Where is the stock location????
There was more than one console that came standard in the 20' model. As such, throwing out a measurement without knowing which console you have wouldn't necessarily give you the location you are trying to reach.
