Whitewater Boats?

can anybody comment on the ride quality/build quality of the older (early 80s) whitewater 25 footers? there is one for sale in my neck of the woods and it looks like a nice ride. also would a 225 be enough power for a boat that size?

A friend of mine has a newer 25 Whitewater with a pair of 225's.It is a very nice boat! Fit and finish is above average and the ride is great!His does haul butt with the twins,a single probably would be OK,just no speed demon.Another friend has a early 90's 25 Contender( very simular to the Whitewater) with a single 225 and it is fine.

Tom's Whitewater is very, very nice. Had a chance to go on it a few years ago. Not only does it look good....it flies! I think we hit 68mph in the ICW and still had some throttle left. Scary..

I have an 86 25' Whitwater cuddy. The hull and ride quality is excellent the interior is a little sparse. I think this boat was specifically built for running drugs. It was actually confiscated by the Coast Guard at one point. I have the paperwark to prove it. It has four 50 gal gas tanks and at one time had twin 225's. It now has a single 200 hp Evinrude and a reworked transom that the previous owner had one of the local yards do. I think the 200 is a little under powered but I can top out at about 45 mph on a good day. here is a pic.

If you have any questions or want to go for a ride let me know. I think it is an excellent platform for a rebuild. I have many plans for this boat the problem is time.

Bryan: nice boat! I saw the deck mold at WW a few years ago and didn't know if he ever built one. My boat had some history relating to the USCG and Customs in its past and also had 4 fuel tanks and twin I/Os at one ime. The previous owner bought it as scrap from the Customs Auction.

ABe's; the ride of the 25 ww is very similar to an older-style 25 contender or 25 Seavee, or like a "longer" version of a 23 SC. In smaller chop, the SC and WW are similar in a headsea, but when the waves get a little bit larger, the extra several feet helps bridge the crests.

A 225 will plane easily, and with a 19p prop get you into the low 40s WOT, but I would not reccomend running one loaded, ice, fuel, water, and 3 "real beer" drinking friends for long periods of time. For no real good reason, I put 2 of them on the back....and purchased another identical pair of new 225s to replace these when they go south (not happened yet, nearly 2000hrs in 4 yrs)

The WW is a lot like the SC, but with a much smaller "cult" following. (Norman built far fewer of them). However, there will ALWAYS be a market for resale as your exit, the ones which come available never stay listed long. I have been very pleased with mine, it gets run hard and put away wet often, but still remains a blast to operate and has a little style at the same time (like a SC)! Tom - Thanks for the compliment. I can only hope mine looks as good as your when I am finished. Believe it or not I have owned this boat for about five years. I have a lot of plans but little time. I also fish it when I can, it is a work in progress (aren't they all).
Living up here in the northeast not many people have heard of Whitewater and I get plenty of questions about what she is. Any info you could provide and history or origins of whitewater would be helpful. I have only seen one other cc up here and yours of our vintage. I have never seen another cuddy like mine and would like to know more about it. Thanks ahead of time.
