Default Quality of Accon cleats

I know alot of the guys on this site that have redone their boats have used the accon pop-up cleats, and i am wondering about the quality of them. I am worried about the springs and other components inside them rusting and what not. I would just like some feedback on how they perform, and the quality. Also, has anybody seen the "accon" cleats on ebay with the square flange? Here's the link.

I'm wondering if these are really accon's, and if the water cup that accon sell would fit into them. Thanks guys

Hello-

It is my understanding the cleats on EBAY are first generation Accon. I do not know if I beleive this as their have been similar cleats for sale on Ebay for the past few years. That is a lot of first gen. cleats.

I have had the pop up Accon cleats on 2 boats and never had a problem in 4 or so years.

if you are worried about the springs I would suggest their pull up version. Similar style with no springs.

good luck

I've had the pull-up Accon cleats on two different boats without a single problem. I'd buy them again if I needed cleats.

I put these on my boat a while and they work great. For that price I would jump on them. Rich

I just bought the ones on the link i provided above. I paid 15 bucs a cleat and bought five of them and shipping was 16 bucs. I've seen the auction before...this guy has alot of them so if anybody wants them, its a pretty good price for what your getting.

I bought one of the Pop - up (flip up) bow lights from the 1st generation, I have had problems with the bulb working loose and it turns out they made a bunch with the bayonet tabs for the bulb out by 90 degrees so that when the bulb was locked, the contacts for the 12vdc were not contacting....if you have the same problem from one of those, it can be fixed by removing the bayonet sleeve and rotating it 90 - 60 degrees.
