Re: REPOWERING MY 23 CLASSIC SEACRAFT
Whose money are we spending?
I have twin Yamaha 150's that can get me up to the mid 40's. they are 8 years old. My guess would be that twin 150 eTec's would get me in the low 50's and probably 30% better on gas. Twin 200's would be what, mid 50's+? That is some choice you have.

Re: REPOWERING MY 23 CLASSIC SEACRAFT
Twin 200 would be nice if you just want to go fast,If I was repowering id go twin 150's, less money, less weight,150 would push it beautifully, especially etec's they got plenty power.

Re: REPOWERING MY 23 CLASSIC SEACRAFT
the 60 degree 150,175 and 200 etec's are the same weight. Might as well put as much as you can on it. I am.

Re: REPOWERING MY 23 CLASSIC SEACRAFT
First we need to know if you have a cc or Scepter style. What is it you want out of your boat? Top speed, range, fuel economy? As many on the board here know I just have little 115 4 stroke suzi's and they perform wonderfully. 25k cruise at 4k burning 10.5 gallons. If I bump the throttle up to 5k rpm's I can run about 31-32kts and in the gulf of mexico in a 2 foot chop that's about the fastest I can run comfortably. 115's will cost you about 15.5k for the pair 150 Suzki's about 19k Twin 200 4 strokes or etec's are going to weigh roughly 1000-1200lbs. That is really pushing the limit for the CC a Scepter may handle it better due to their forward weight of the cabin.
I think my advice for you if you want a good power to weight ratio are the Suzuki 175's. You will probably be in the low to mid 50's. I don't know what etec's cost but someone recently told me a 150 etec is more expensive than a 150 Yamaha. Good luck with whatever you choose and post some pix here!
