Default 2000 Merc 225 Optis

I got a great deal (I think) on a pair of 225's with less than 70 hrs each. The counter roatating one has a none too small hole where you can see what remains of a piston. Any ideas on getting it rebuilt? I only need one and was going to use the other as a spare or sell it. Is there a way via serial# to confirm what updates if any are needed or have been done?

Thanks in advance

David

Rebuilding the motor with a hole in the block isn't an option. Your best bet would be to sell it as is. If the updates were done by a Merc. dealer they may be entered into a computer history. The dealer can plug in their diagnostic computer and tell how many hours are on the motor, what r.p.m. the motor has been run at, if it has overheated ,etc.
