Welcome to the site cre44

At least the SeaCraft name is still alive, other than that
not to much praise for them.

Any specifics on why? Looking at new boats in the under 20' range and love the layout of the 20 (mainly 1 level deck)...

Since I own a 1978 boat, I am going to say that there is nothing like an old SeaCraft hull. We have members on this site who have new SeaCrafts and love them.

I will tell you that I have had four boats around this size, and this boat (although it is the oldest) is far and away the best riding and seaworthy boat.

If you go to other web sites (like http://www.thehulltruth.com), and you do a search you should fine a wide array of opinions on the newer SeaCrafts. If memory serves me correct, there was some hope that once SeaCraft relocated it's manufacturing facility to NC that things were going to improve. I cannot talk to that, but I am sure that there are those who can.

Good luck.

The new SeaCraft's have the same lines, but thats where it
ends. Depending how deep your wallet is, you may want to consider buying an Original and re-do your way. It might be about the same money. On Ebay this past week has been several 20's that have sold cheap. Just one option.
I would stay away from any Tracker built hull if you can.
They look good on the outside, but not the same on the inner
part of the hull. The glass in my 1970 20SF in the bottom is
a good half inch thick. Good luck with your search.

There is old Tracker and new Tracker. I think the consensus is that the 80's model Trackers are actually very well made, it’s the more recent years that have had some issues. Who knows about the brand new ones??
