I have a 1999 OX-66 250.

I'm not sure what year they were made or what they are called now but you might want to try looking at this forum -

I bought one in October 2004 when my 1996 225 hp Ocean Pro threw a rod. I needed a motor fast so I didn't miss the striper season. It was reasonably priced and I know a number of people who have them and they have a reputation as bullet proof. My only problem is that I have had to replace spark plugs a couple times but that may be my fault because I never took it back for the 10 hour service. So far I'm very happy and the boat does ride higher in back because it is not a heavy motor.

My boat is a 23 CC 1973. At 4000 rpm I get 30mph at 2.2mpg.
At 3500rpm I get 25mph and 2.8mpg. The boat gets up on plane quick. The batteries are up in the front of the console. The boat has a 102 gallon tank.

There are people getting better gas mileage with the 4 strokes. If gas mileage is your most important issue look at the Suzuki and yamaha 4 strokes. They are a little better on fuel mileage. The etec's are also supposed to be good. For me I wanted the lighter motor and 453 lbs and the lower cost sold me on the 200 hp ox66. The best fuel saving device for me is the Navman 3100. Every time you want to go fast it shows you the penalty. Yamaha has a web site that tests different boats with 2 stroke and 4 stroke motors so you can compare the gas mileage on a boat with the 2 stroke and 4 stroke motor.
