Default 200 gallon gas tank....

I am looking at a 23 that had a 200 gallon gas tank put in recently, and I wanted to see if anyone has any expierence with this. I am just worried that that big of a gas tank could cause problems with the ride of the boat.

Iwould sea trial it, but the boat is a long ways away.

Thanks,
Palmetto

one gallon of fuel = about 6 - 6.5 pounds.
100 gallons = approx 3 - 200 pound guys.

The 23 with 100 gallons and 3 guys (not including the driver) . . . Ride is maybe a little better.

That’s a lot of gas for a 23’ and that would be a lot of extra weight “IF” you filled it up But if you don’t fill it up unless you are planning on a 400 mile run the ride should be ok. Ya, maybe the tank extends to much to the stern that lets say a 120 gal tank but maybe they moved it forward and removed the deck hatch. Any which way if you don’t fill her up to the brim your trim tabs should be able to compensate for the placement of the tank. But I would want a rite first just to make sure.

200 gal is a LOT of fuel,What does the boat have for power?
200 gal,2 big outboards,4 big guys lots of fishing gear could lead to some weight problems.
Fill it up ask to take a couple of guys with you on the test ride, hell, bring beer and I will come ride with you!

Thanks for all of the help.

At the moment, the boat is too far away to just hop in and ride around. If I drive that far, I am buying it!! haha

As of right now it has twin 115hp, but I would really prefer 150's or 200's with a bracket setup.

Of course, this is all very preliminary, but I just love the way these older Sea Crafts look.

Thanks,
Palmetto

You dont always need to fill it.Put what you need in for that trip.my boat will be in the islandS alot and I make the run alone. My family will fly.200 gallons with food and bait not a problem.I will show up with 150 gallons.I will be careful on the next 50 gallons and have it at 100 gallons.this will take a small bite out of the bahamas fuel cost.Could be in your favor. As a pilot and caption Xtra fuel is always your friend if you manage it right.Buy it.Keith
