Default Should I buy a 2006 Seacraft 25?

I am considering a 2006 Seacraft 25ft. Does anybody have comments about the ride quality, build quality, motor preference, etc, etc?

Most of the guys here all have older boats and really don’t have much first hand info on the new ones. That being said I go to Outdoor World once or twice a month to buy stuff and look around. “From the outside looking in they haven’t changed much just like the 23’s the hull design is really the same. There have been some quality issues that have come up from people about the sealing from the deck and liner with the live well and some gel coat issues. One member here had a major problem with the transom on a approx 5 to 7 year old boat and could never get the co. to fix it correctly. All that being said I really don’t know how good they are being built now that they have moved to the Carolinas. As for the boat itself I wish they would have stretched it out to a 27-28 footer I would think that would be a great 2 motor longer ranged craft.
I know that Brunswick just bought the CABO Boats Co. and those guys are groaning thinking that the quality of the boats would be brought down for the sake of profitability and expedience well they are not the only company that has done that to a boat line.

There was that 1 boat quite awhile ago but nothing since plus it was a miami built boat. I think they have been doing much better since the move to carolina as I haven't but good good things and more important no bad. I will say though that the owner/dealer doesn't have much of a rep for service, so I would find another motor dealer to do most of that work.

I spoke to a general manager at the local Bass Pro recently and he indicated that there is a 27-28' seacraft and a 34+ Seacraft coming out in the near future. Don't know any more than that, may never happen.

Theres on up here and I looked at it hard, fit and finish aside, the 25 looks a little narrow for its length, I was told its pretty much a 23 with euro transom incorporated. The old 25 Seafari I looked at was a much bigger boat than the new 25CC. I'm sure it rides great but the price differance between the new 23' and the 25'is pretty hefty, I would expect a little more than what you get for that kinda $$$$ Good luck A 27' or 29 would be really cool.

THE 25 IS A 23 WITH A BRACKET GRAFTED... IT IS ALSO QUITE A BIT LIGHTER THAN OUR OLD BATTLE WAGONS. WERE DID THE WEIGHT GO ? MY GESS WOULD BE IN THE AMOUNT OF GLASS IN THE HULL ???

Go old, lots of glass is good.

Actually, the weight isn't in the glass, it's in the resin. Laminate strength doesn't come from weight, it comes from a high glass to resin ratio. The hulls produced today using vacuum bagging and resin infusion have a higher strenght to weight ratio than our classic hulls.

That being said, weight is a key component of the classic Seacraft ride. Heavier hulls bust through the waves better. If you don't believe it, take a ride in a Bertram. Wet as hell, but oh so smoothe.

For what it's worth, I have a pretty good bit of experience with the 25 and the 23. Short answer to your question is NO. Of the 25' boats that I have been involved with one had transom problems right out of the gate. You really don't get a better ride at all offshore over the 23' and you have to run a thisty twin engines. I am in the boat business in a pretty big way and unfortunately I don't believe that the new Sea Crafts have the fit and finish or the quality of some of their competitors for the money. They do still however have a great ride. I personally feel that weight has little do do with ride - it's all about the design of the bottom of the boat.
