I am looking at a 2000 SC 20. I would appreciate a lesson on who built this vessel, during what periods and any general comments about each.
I'm guessing that in 2000 SeaCraft was part of Tracker and I would appreciate any experience or opinions about the quality etc. The console on these is set way back and I'm wonering how that affects performance when operating solo--seems like a lot of weight in the stern! It looks beautifully built though. Thanks! |

As far as quality goes the boat you are looking at is 6 years old and if there are quality issues with your boat you should be able to spot them by doing a self inspection. After 6 years they would have showed up by now. The transom is made with composite material so no rot there, deck should be fine, my concerns would be how was it stored outside with no cover or in dry storage etc. Wiring and electronics bilges etc. could be a problem and you really need a mechanic check out the motor. Six years could be it for a motor depending on how it was treated. As far as the ride with respect to weight distribution I don’t have a clue about your boat. One thing for sure they are a pretty boat and the hull design will always make it handle water well.

Thanks Gentlemen,
To be more clear about my question: I would like to learn, who built the SC 20 in the past and the quality of build from each manufacturer? In short, a SC 20 history lesson. Thanks! |

Hi jjdiv, welcome to the site. If you do some searching around you'll find plenty on the subject. The only thing to add is, there's a very good reason why this site exists, and though they may look similar the new is definitely not the old.
