engine weight
I am debating on a 150, 175, or 200 EFI 2 stroke for a 20SF. Does anyone know what the difference in weights are on these three choices.

Re: engine weight
I beleive that these engines are all based on the same V6 block and the weight diference would be minimal

Re: engine weight
I do think the above poster is dead on, a 150 or 175 would be plenty a 200 is overkill, although I have one but on a MA, so just look for good pricing.

Re: engine weight
I think a 150, properly propped, is more than adequte.

Re: engine weight
My '91 Merc 150 w/ 20" shaft is listed at 395 lbs. My '88 Johnson 225 w/ 25" shaft is supposed to be 480 lbs.
So, if I want to put a new 175 4 cyl Verado on the back of my Seafari, I need a bracket that has 527 lbs of flotation.

Re: engine weight
The merc blackmax series are light motors.
1979 Merc v200 is listed at 339 lbs. 1981 Merc V225 is listed at 360 lbs. Frank - I read in Bass and Walleye or PBR that the big verados (200, 225, 250) were listed at 649lbs, but really weighed over 730+ lbs each. |

Re: engine weight
730lbs is a lot of weight. I'd rather go ahead and pop for a 803 lb 350hp V8 Yamaha
Seriously, the Seafari gets on fine with anything between 90 - 200 hp, 140-150 being ideal.
