Default I am now a full-fledged member!!!

Gentlemen: I have made the leap and bought a 1969 Seacraft that appears to be in very good condition. The boat, a 20 foot center console came from Florida. I got the boat, motor (140hp Johnson) and trailer for $1,700.00. It's on the way to me and I can't wait.

It has pretty good equipment, besides the motor, it has am/fm/cd, radio, gps, and is extremely clean. The only thing I wished it had is a t-top, not a bimini....but at the price, I think it will do.

The guy I bought it from claimed to have done the stringers 2 years ago. Besides the soft spots on the deck, what would be any other indicators of damage underneath?

I've spent a week studying this site and the information is excellent11 Kudos to all who started the site and have contributed. I hope to contribute also. Isn't the internet great?

So long for now.

Hank welcome to the site. We have the same year and same model SeaCraft. Looks like you got a decent price on her. If the previous owner replaced the stringers then he probably removed the deck to get to them which is how most people approach that repair. In that case he should have replaced the deck as well. Therefore the deck should not have any soft spots like you indicated. So something is not adding up. Either shoddy repairs or maybe he thinks he repaired the stringers but just cant remember exactly

Strick, I did not mean to infer that my boat had soft spots I was just asking what other indicators would be showing IF there was damage underneath. Sorry for the confusion. The boat arrived yesterday afternoon (Friday, March 9)and it is not bad. A little shoddy in some places with regard to the Imron paint job, but overall very good. Motor runs great. Does yours have an aluminum rub rail or rubber? I'm thinking a rubber would be better looking. Tne one that it's got is a little dinged up. Thanks.
