1984 - 23 Classic
Hello, just starting the process of selling my beloved SeaCraft. She's served me well for 8+ years, but new baby on the way.
Here are the details... - 1984 hull 23ft. - 1996 200 Johnson with 780 hours - T-top, sweet swim platform - Furono color depth finder, GPS, UHF The navy blue hull is oxidized but in very good shape. The boat is in fine fishing order. What do you think is a fair price? |

Re: 1984 - 23 Classic
Tampa2,
Very nice looking rig. I am guessing that the price could be anywhere from $10k to the high teens, based upon how you answer the following questions: 1) What kind of shape are the transom and deck in? 2) Is the transom closed or open? 3) Does it have a live well and/or fresh water pump? If it has a live well what kind of setup is it? 4) What model numbers are the electronics? 5) Does it come with a trailer? If so, what year, man & model is it? 6) What is the engine's compression like? What are RPM's and speed at during WOT? Best of luck. Peter

Re: 1984 - 23 Classic
what about performance numbers with the 200hp motor? I know there have been discussions whether this is adequate power for the 23.

Re: 1984 - 23 Classic
dawg20,
For what it is worth, I have an '85 Septer with a 260 volvo I/O that I would cruise at about 31-3300 Rpm spinning a 15 x 17 cupped prop and my typical GPS VOG would be about 21 to t3 Knt. I also keep about 100 to 140 gal. of fuel onboard ( about 1100 lb.) (I'm going to stop that and depend more on my water separator. Good luck and go for it. A SeaCraft ride is worth most any price in terms of more than adequate cruise speed.

I am indeed sorry. I thought that you were the buyer! As the seller, I suspect that a price in the lower to mid teens is very defensable. A buyer that surfaces for a 20 year old hull knows what he is getting into (something Verrrrry Sweeeet!) He/she can't possibly hope to match it in terms of value and confidence when things get nasty. There are very few products that will continue to hold their value as well as that boat to a knowledgeable and interested buyer. Good Luck!

Re: 1984 - 23 Classic
So a bunch of us have posted comments/feedback over the past day.
Is the owner going to respond (is he watching us in steath mode?)

Re: 1984 - 23 Classic
Appreciate everyone's feedback. Sorry for delayed response.
To answer a few questions... - The transom and deck are in excellent shape. The whole hull is really in excellent condition but the navy blue paint is oxidized. - The transom is open to the swim platform - which I really like btw for easy access to the platform. The platform is a popular place to fish on a hot day. - The live well is not plumbed but can be. - Don't know the model numbers of the Furuno or Garmin GPS offhand. I'd guess they are 10-12 years old but work fine. - It does have a Float-on trailer but it's not in great shape (it sat for years while my boat was in a high & dry). - Motor. I haven't had the compression checked on the Johnson 200 Oceanrunner but at WOT the RPMS are 5500. Agree the boat is slightly underpowered with a 200. Max speed I've hit is 32 mph. This rig has always been fast enough for me though and always got me to the fish - and home. The only real problem I've had with the boat in 8+ years was a cracked fuel tank. I'm sure some people on this board can relate to that ordeal. Cost me $3,500 to replace. So anyone buying this boat won't have that to worry about! Thanks again for everyone'e feedback. Definitely helping me zero in on a fair price. |

Re: 1984 - 23 Classic
Thanks
I did see your post about replacing the gas tank several years ago. Am I correct in seeing bolster cushions in the picture? Does it have trim tabs? Will you be setting a price soon and if people want to see it how can arrangements be made?

Very clean inside - all teak replaced by last owner. I'm only the third owner. Guy I bought it from had her for 12 years. No trim tabs. Yes, plan to post a price by end of this week. Thanks again! |
