Default Shrimping Wed. Night

Hooked up with forum member Briguy, had a great time getting a couple pounds of shrimp tonight.

This was the first time I went and it was a blast. Right now is a little early in the season but the flat we went on held a lot of shirmp. The rain came down pretty hard half way through so we had to take a break but all in all maybe I got 4 doz.

I can now see why we tear up the trout fishing a shrimp suspended under a cork.

Just out of curiosity, when you East Coasters want some shrimp po-boys, do you cast net or drag trawls? You just reminded me that shrimp season is almost here and I often catch some beauties in May (less in numbers though).

We are netting them on the flats with long handled mesh nets. A few folks were dragging nets.

I just realized the tide will be pretty high this weekend to do shrimping when it gets dark, so probably not a good idea. We'll have plenty to do.

I wouldn't bother, between the tide and the way the wind will be coming, you'll have other things going on anyway.

It looks like a pre-dawn low tide. So, that is the only time. I may bring a light and net too. There will be so many things going on, so who knows if this will fly? ESD-are the flats near-by?
