200 HPDI on an '81 20SF - should I put a wedge on?
I am about to have a model year 2000 Yami 200 HPDI mounted on my '81 20sf. I am concerned with the boat porpoising and am wondering of I should just have them preemptively put a wedge on the in the process. I know there are a few folks with this setup on here and am interested in your input. Thanks in advance.

No. You do not need a wedge. The hull is fine for that weight and power.

I have a Merc 200 carbed 2 stroke on an '83 20 SF just like yours. Engine weight should be in the same range as the HPDI Yami. The Seacraft Industries 20 SF is 8" longer than the Potter version and, I think, a little heavier in the bow. You definitely won't need transom wedges. It shouldn't porpoise at any speed.
Let us know what kind of performance you get with the 200 on a SEC hull. Mine isn't quite as good as I've seen reported for Potter 20s with a 200. Dave
