Default Repower

My 1978 18 is undergoing a transom raise/rebuild. Will add flotation bracket (approx 3 cubic feet submerged at rest) with 2 foot offset. Now considering repower options. Leaning towards etec 150. Looking for recomendations.

A full transom with a bracket on an 18 sounds like a unique project. Have you started? If not, start to finish pictures would be a good addition to this site. If it works for the best, I might do mine. As for power, the floatation bracket should let you mount any V-6 you want. 225

Transom repair is finished. Replaced plywood with polyester foam core. Added knees and cross member. Bracket will go on next week. Will try to figure out how to post photos. Put down deposit on etec 150. Hope to finish console, wiring etc. by Thanksgiving.
