Matching White gelcoat
Has anyone found a matching white gelcoat for seacraft or a combination of colored pigments that work . . . I thought I found it with the halyard pigment, but it's too yellow/brown . . . I tried 50% white and 50% halyard and it's closer, but not quite right . . . . This gelcoat matching is killing me . . .

Re: Matching White gelcoat
Tim-
Have you contacted spectrum? They should have the stock gelcoat already mixed. I know they have Mako gelcoat and considering Seacraft and Mako are both owned by Tracker.....Spectrum should stock the Seacraft gelcoat...at least from the Tracker owned years. However they are usually very expensive...about $60/quart. -Ed- |

Re: Matching White gelcoat
Where's the gelcoat you are trying to match? Is it on an are that has been faded out over the years?
I used gelcoat from Minicraft on the hull of my old '85 Grady. It matched almost perfectly there. But on the topsides where the offwhite gelcoat had faded, I had to mix it myself. White base w/ a touch of brown coloring agent. In my case, I learned that it had to be mixed to look a little too dark for it to come out right once applied. Same thing on my current '93 Grady. All topside gelcoat has to be mixed. I redid this hatch earlier this year...
