Default 300 Evinrude ETEC

Any one running a 300hp ETEC on a 23 Seacraft? I have a friend that is getting ready to remove a 250 Johnson and install a new 300 ETEC. He was interested if anyone had any experience with them.

Yep. I thought I saw a 30" 300 hp motor in the crate at Apopka Marine here in Citrus County on Tuesday.

There is one in stock here in Houston and my friend is going to install it very soon. I am going to purchase his 250 Johnson and put on my project boat. His should be running very shortly and I will keep the website updated.

They sound like a great choice E tech 300 hp - 534 lbs. 30”
E tech 250 hp - 530 lbs. 30”

Suzuki 4 stroke 300 hp – 615 lbs. 30”
250 hp – 591 lbs. 30”

I think Yamaha is going to have some trouble with thier 800+ pound 350HP motor except on the large express boats like Grady White that sells yamaha exclusively. New Verado 350 which I hear rumors of being around 380HP at just over 600 pounds, the 300 Suzuki, and now the 300HP Etec that weighs less then all of them are some pretty nice choices.

I think the 300 ETEC could be the motor of choice for repowering big center consoles that were designed for 2 stroke weight. An older 31 Ocean Master would be a good example. I bet that boat would get some pretty good cruise numbers with 600 2 stroke HP.

Oh, and lets not forget about the Merc 300XS!!! I still want to see a restored 23 with one of those bad boys on a bracket.
