New to forum - looking to do a refit on a 78 23'
Ok guys. Been looking at the site for years but I'm new to the forum. Great site here. I have a 1978 23' in Jupiter Florida that I've had for about 6 years. Just put a Yamaha 250 HPDI on it a few years ago. Getting ready for a complete refit(soft spots in transom, cap repair, floor). I'm sure all the answers are here but you may be able to give me some quick ones just through experience. A few questions to start.
-What kind of transom brackets seem to work best and how much are they? -Bad spots in the cap - Remove cap or repair in place? -Best manufacturer for fuel tank? I'm sure the questions will keep coming but I'd like to get a tank and bracket ordered before i dig in. I think i have a line on a sweet console with a helm pod already. Thanks for your help |

From the sound of it with the helm pod and being in Jupiter, your thinking along the lines of what Capt. Chuck has done. He is in Stuart. Do a search for "gucci" and his name will pop up.

Re: New to forum - looking to do a refit on a 78 23'
I live in Jupiter also, I have a 18ft SF that has been redone with the transom closed in and a full flotation bracket. I also just purchased a 23ft SF that I will have redone closing in the transom and installing a full flotation bracket. Don at Hermco does great work, he did my 18 and I will have him do my 23, if you go to his website www.hermco.net you can look at the pictures of his work. I would highly recommend him.

If you live in Jupiter that is not too far from Melbourne. Stop by longpoint fri/sat and you will get plenty of ideas on what direction to go. See the gatherings forum and thread.
