The replys I have been getting so far are the design is pretty much the same the production methods are different. Older hulls hand made newer hulls assembly line production

I THINK Tracker Marine took over in '87.

I don't think any of these boats where "assembly lined". The production numbers are so low, you couldn't afford to tool and build them that way in those numbers.

The hull, design, and materials stayed the same. The labor and rigging went up and down, the rigging mostly down since 1986. I have seen good and bad potter and tracker boats, I haven't seen a bad csy or mosely era boat, but that may be because there aren't many of those around.

Whatever you do, if your not sure what your looking at, get a servey done on it.

Before 1972 . . . Hulls had 4 digit serial numbers . . . so they do not have SEC in their HIN numbers. They will have been assigned one from the state where they were first registered unless that state supports 4 digit hin numbers.

SeaCraft Industries and CSY have the reputations of over building with their laminate schedule and using heavier core material. I would take any SeaCraft............

I would agree to the point they were heavier than they needed to be. Now on the other hand if you wanted to get in a fight with a dock or seawall that was good

They are the same hull and nobody has had any issues, most guys come out and say they love the new ones. There was 1 early 25 that was a nightmare for whatever reason, not sure of the real story as there are 2 sides always but that was 10 yrs ago.

Thanks for all the info on the history. I am looking at a 1989 23 CC and wanted to make sure that the boat, all things being equal, was as good as the earlier models.
