Default Moving West

Well, it was bound to happen. I've been called to pastor a church in Fresno, California. I'll be moving around the end of October. I'm not sure I'm going to drag the Seafari out there, I may leave it with my brother in Melbourne - he's also a SeaCraft fan, and I know he'll take good care of it if I do.

The real stopper is not being able to tandem-tow across the country. Can't do it in Florida or Alabama unless the tow vehicle is licensed as a commercial semi tractor. Every other state going across allows tandem tow rigs, but my first 450 miles is all Florida and Alabama. Oh, well.

The nearest salt water when I get there is Marina, CA. How appropriate.

Withlacootchie to Fresno -- yeah, Father Frank, I'd call that a test of faith. On the other hand you'll be about 150 miles from Strick's Delta Striper holes, and the Delta Largemouth Bass fishery is nearly as good as FL's best. Monterey Bay is full of life, and your just down the hill from Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon. There are some burly trout in Kings River lots of rattlers there, too, but after the jungle fauna of western FL I'm sure that won't be a problem

There's a 23 looking for a motor on LA or Orange Co CL, and I know that blue 77 Seafari I looked at is still available in Escondido. I also found a 19 bowrider in Oregon...Although Fresno might not offer a lot of free time...lot of folks in need of guidance there . Good Luck with your new calling.

Congrats Frank!!! Monterey is super nice and excellent Albacore, Salmon, and Halibut fishing. Hopefully Salmon will open up again for you. There's no good route over the hills to the ocean (at least for trailering), so if you take a boat find a storage yard near Monterey and park it there. Good Luck!!

Fr. Frank,

I truly believe that it is an opportunity for you. Florida's loss is California' gain, the good Lord will see to that!

Selfishly, I think I speak for many, if not most, here that we thank God for the internet so that we don't loose your fellowship, wisdom and general good nature here on the forum.

Take care and be well. Between you and Strict, I think the west coast is getting more than its share of classic Seacraft knowledge. - GB
