I've never insured any of my previous boats but I'm thinking about getting it on my 23 cc. When I checked with my current company they said that I couldn't insure it for more than blue book value which isn't much. Does anyone carry insurance other than liability? I doubt may people in my area would recognize a seacraft and want to steal it but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Not sure where you are...Have you checked out Boat Us?
https://www.boatus-insurance.com/ins...T.mc_id=100004 They have some programs including "agreed value" in case of theft or sinking or whatever... I think in many regions State Farm and Allstate and some of the major insurers might help you out. Good luck. And remember, the Seacraft can be replaced - it's the liability that buries people...

If you've done a lot of work to the boat and/or repowered it, you will need to have it surveyed to determine its current value. Then, you will need to give the survey to your insurance company. Be sure that you ask for a "agreed value" policy and a not a "actual cash value" which basically means they deduct for depreciation. In other words, if your boat is worth $15,000 at the time the policy is written...you want a policy that will give you $15,000 in return if the boat is stolen or totalled, regardless of how long you have owned the boat since the policy was written. Hope this makes sense.

YUP, Listen to the man. been down that road, fortunately I had agreed value when my boat was stolen. Make sure you get appropriate coverages on the trailer, electronics, and gear. Some policies will have that stuff included but have seperate values for each category.

Just did the same thing with my 1977 23. I used Farmers which does my house. Had to send pics and we used an "agreed upon value" for boat and trailer, motor carried its on value since it is "newer". Farmers insured through Foremost. Hope this helps.
