Default 21 Seacraft

I may soon be a happy Seacraft owner. I'm looking at a 1982 21' Seacraft tomorrow. I've been looking for the past year or so at the 23 Seacraft on this site and elsewhere so I don't know too much about the 21 other than it is a Tracker built boat and has the same hull design as the 23' (just shorter). Are these hulls all fiberglass, I thought SC stopped using wood stringers in 1982(?). Also, what are some things I should know before I make the decision to purchase, any inherent problems?

The boat was upgraded in 2002 and it looks very clean so I'm pretty optimistic.

Check it carefully. SeaCraft didn't build a 21' in 1982.

Woops, too late to edit. It is a 1989 21' Center Console.

There are far more knowledgeable people here but, I don't think they ever built a 21' center console and I don't think they ever had wood in the stringers. The transom and floor were wood cored but the stringers were foam.

Tracker was foolish enough to put plywood-cored stringers in some of the 23's beginning in '87 or '88, I'm not sure I remember correctly. But we repaired a 23' Walkaround that had been hit by a 21' Scarab going 40+ mph in the dark. We had to repair the aft port hull to transom corner, and the stringers in that Tracker SeaCraft were cored with 3/4" plywood. I was absolutely shocked, as I knew about the hollow fiberglass stringers that were part of the SeaCraft mystique.

Just for the sake of arguement, I am redoing my 1970 20' cc, the stringers where hollow, yet there is some 3/4" ply used for forming strips of some kind, inside the stringers, needless to say, there was not much left of the ply.

In '89 I believe the 20-footer was 20' 4" LOA, so the seller may be rounding up and calling it a 21'.

I think 1989 is about a decade too early for a SeaCraft 21' CC.
