Default UNCLE! Wife says ’78 20’ MA Project Has to GO---H

I don’t know what this work in progress is worth but I am sure this forum can help me get to a fair price.
Background (indulge me) –
• Cancer in ’75 at age 25…radiation therapy no problem. Young, Strong continue to build houses, Hot Rod 56 ford Truck and Dune Buggies, 4 wheeler, other toys (no boats despite being raised with/on boats in Colorado)
• Cancer in ’95 at age 45…no problem build another house while going through chemo (still no boat).
• Decided it was finally time to do a boat project! Found this web site and got hooked on Potter SeaCraft boats and decided to take the plunge.
• Sept 2007…quintuple bypass and aortic valve replacement. Scary but came out OK. Wife starts to think “WE” are getting way too old for major projects and need to take some time to travel, spend with Grandkids etc and not rebuilding old boats. I talked her into letting me start this one last project—my first boat build ;=)
• 2/2008 Bought a 1978 20’ MA (#SECM00560678) project. Started boat-on-a-budget effort. Hull looked good, transom seemed solid (more on this later) deck was shot. Plan to paint/cosmetics on hull and repair deck.
• Hull turned out nice IMHO (Moomba Yellow, black painted boot stripe, white bottom all in gelcoat)---PICS to follow next week, daughter has camera. Started there because I had a friend that worked at SeaRay that got laid off. He found transom was delaminated in several spots when we prepped for paint. Some folks say that this could be injected with resin/chopped strand, reclamped and fixed without replacement since transom did not flex when I put pressure on motor in tilt position with aluminum backer plates and transom cap rails in place. My guess is that it needs replaced. Deck is shot. Long story about a “Friend” that is no more “Repairing” the deck…suffice it to say it is shot.
• February 2009…thyroid cancer. Remove thyroid, paralyze right vocal cord (they think this may heal in 6 months but for now I sound like Froggy on Our Gang…much fuss about benign or malignant. Turns out to be benign after 3 weeks and multiple labs in 3 states scratching their heads…scared crap out of wife unit (OK me too)
• Wife says SELL THAT BOAT. You are out of the major project business!
The boat was pretty much all original. Original console with Teak Glove box cover, windshield and rail (I found this place that will replace windshield for $150---pretty good deal http://www.updplastics.com/measuring...indshield.htm)
Teak Rod holders…huge 2” think solid teak. I have them sanded ready to finish. Original seats, 50 gal RAYCO Mfg aluminum tank somewhat pitted but serviceable (I rigged a 3 PSI test). SN on tank dated it as 2/7/02 model per RAYCO. All hatch covers are there and original but soft.
I also have a brand new Taco Leaning Post (very nice) with backrest and 4 rocket launchers, foot rest and tilt up seat w/storage.
I have a fiberglass electronics box that was going on a future T-Top (I had settled on Smith Stainless since it was a kit and I am far away from Pipe Dreams and other fab shops but did not buy yet…see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQP_BZgvxog).
The trailer is an aluminum, dual axle that is serviceable but will need some attention.
The 1981 150HP Merc ELPT that came with the boat has been completely rebuilt. It is probably more suited for Bass Boats but it suited my needs for what my family would use the boat for. But I need it gone as well. Partial list of specs:
• 86 XR2 2.0L 150 HP power head that has been completely redone
• Bored .015 over ($300 machine work) 6 new pro marine pistons ( $93.95 X6 = $563.70) Boyesen reeds ($182.95) 12 new rod bolts ($3.40 X12= $40.80) new wrist pin bearings ($6.99 X 6 = $41.94) new rod bearings ( $11.49 X 6= $68.94) new lower crank bearing ( $33.99) new upper main ($88.95) 2 new center main bearings ($99.95 X2=$199.95) Gasket set (99.95) seal kit ($26.00) and switched the vertical front 1/2 to a 2.4 200 horizontal half ($150). Heads shaved from 34CC to 30CC ($60.00)
• ‘ 84 2.4 200 crankshaft (1 3/8)
• This engine has 143-145 PSI of compression with 2% leakage.
• Carbs rebuilt, .002 larger main jets, all spark/ idle stabilizers removed, water pump, fuel switchboxes replaced
• Much More….
This motor should haul ass. I will sell the motor with the boat or separately. No idea of fair price?
I have extra gel coat for the hull (Yellow, White, and Platinum for under gunnels), some glass and other supplies that I will throw in as well.
I live in Knoxville TN but will deliver the boat within 8 hours drive of Knoxville (eg. Pensacola, Charleston etc). Any further we can negotiate.
Now the hard part…Price for the work in progress…boat/trailer/motor, individual/separate? Advice, Offers? Again, PICs in a week or so when I get my camera back
Thanks folk!

That is where I was looking for some help. The hull, Gunnel Caps, under the gunnels (inside of hull) are done, extra supplies etc. It has a new Taco Leaning post. It needs the deck and maybe the transome repaired.

I have $5K into the boat to get it this far not counting the trailer...I don't know what trailers are worth either.

So boat and trailer are probably worth South of $6K since it is a project.

Anyoe have any thoughts on fair market price??? I can't get more pics up yet, still waiting on my camera. Will have some by next weekend.

THX!
