im knockin on the door of 1600 hours.... would like to have the space taken up by the engine box and the outboard will be more fuel efficient... now that im able to all the installation and maintanence and even warrentee work come the first of the year... i have always wanted to convert to outboard and now that i can afford to do so im goin for it...

Hmmm, are you sure about that fuel efficiency with the outboards? Take that 4 barrel carb. off and put on a decent 2 barrel and you will be all set. As far as the engine box - that is a problem. Can you make it a casting platform with live wells on each side? Something unique with a lot less work?
