Re: anyone heading out tommorrow?
broke lake worth inlet at 7 and was greeted by a real tight 1-3' sea with no wind at all. not the best, not the worst conditions at all.make our way out to 100' and put out a five line spread (no out riggers) shotgun skirted bally, mid way a tuna daisy chain on one side and naked bally on the other, and short off the transom clips a naked bally and small tuna feather, trolled from 100' out to 650' and back in with out a whiff, no weed, no flyers nothing. trolled in to the ledge of juno and got a bonita, yay... drifted up the ledge for a while and chumed up the bonitas and messed with them for a while, put one out on my bent butt tuna stick with a senator 9/0, 30 seconds into letting it out it goes slack and i thought he swam off, then it takes off!, shark on... i pass the rod off to my friend joe (who is a fisherman) and he worked it for 20 minutes and got it pretty close, my other friend jamie (who is not a fisherman but loves fishing) was cracking on him cause he was sweating buckets, so we passed it off to jamie, not soo funny anymore, haha, 10 minutes later we have a 8-10' bull shark boat side, swivel it the rod tip and then the shark took off, peeled 50 yards before splitting the wire leader. mine by me i didnt want to take that hook out.
by now its around 1230, we hear some chatter on the radio about dolphin in 800-950'... saddled up and rode out, put lines in (same trolling spread) in 750' when we saw flyers and made out way out, in 850' some guy says he killing the dolphin in 700' off jupiter, i talked to him and honestly thought he was BSing, but we decide to swing back in anyways. when we hit 715' the shotgun line took off and we made short work of a 10# cow. felt good to finally get what we were after. worked that area for another hour and half and saw quite a few flyers but didnt get another hit. decided to call it a day at 3 when we were 12+ miles off the loran tower. slow day indeed. cleaned up for the 20 mile ride home and cruised in between 23 and 28mph as conditions changed, that was against a 4mph gulfstream half the way, ran up the beach once we got around lost tree. had the boat on the trailer at phil phoster by 4. i didnt turn the engine off at all (+9 hours) so when i fill up before i go out tommorrow i post the total fuel burn, 2 hours of the was running (3600 - 4400 rpm), 5.5 hours trolling (1900 rpm) and 1.5 hours at dead idle im guessing 15 - 17 gallons, well see. and like i said ill be out again tommorrow, im hoping it will be reallll flat, forecast looks good, and we will run way out... GFS i know you got the day off...

Re: anyone heading out tommorrow?
Hey Ben,
Nice work on the big Bull. I like the way you fish. I sent down a barely legal Y.T. with a rudder adjustment last month and got whacked in no time. Rocked up. Tried to freespool and fool it to come back out , but no dice. GFS |

Re: anyone heading out tommorrow?
rudder adjustment, haha, i like that...
went for a quick afternoon trip yesterday, met my brother when he got out of school at 12:30 and loaded up. cleared the inlet around 1:30 only to be greeted by a 10-15kt SE breeze. pointed her straight into it and rode out to 500' and dropped the trolling spread in. in 900' straigh out the inlet we get a double header of gaffer phins, cow was 10# bull went 15#, worked that area where we saw alot of solo flyers but didnt get another whiff. back in the inlet by 5:00, thats my kind of afternoon. we filled the boat up before we went out and my fuel guess was dead on, she took 15.8 gallons ~ $36... not bad for 9 hours of fishing dad has sunday off so i think well be out there again... and ill try and remember the camera this time
