Mounting Leaning post

Just bought a brand new leaning post. Has 4 legs with four holes on each round plate. Question is, do I have to through bolt it ( I know it is th epreferred way) or can I get away with some lag bolts and 5200? To put backing plates on it and bolt would be almost impossible. I guess I could do it if that is the only way. Any recommendations or advice is appreciated. Thanks

whats the deck made out of? I have the same feet on my leaning post and out of 16 holes I only have 4 bolts the rest are number 14 (1/4) screws 1 1/2" and I am not the lightest person in the world and really lean on it and doesnt budge at all. 4200 under the feet and in the holes.

If deck is cored, you might consider drilling oversize holes (like 1/2" for 1/4" holes), fill with thickened epoxy, then redrill and tap for machine screws. Toggle bolts are another option. Sheet metal/lag screws don't hold too well in glass . . . the threads are sharp and tend to cut into the glass if there is any relative motion.
