New Guy 1974 20sf old armstrong bracket
hey guys new here but not at all to boating. I always wanted a SeaCraft from the time I moved to South Florida and used to love their lines and ride. The Florida , Florida /Carolina hybrid boats are the best for the most part imho. Me being a Jersey boy I'm not to popular when I say Jersey boats suck except Henriques and Cobra at least everyone can agree Ocean does, except the owners of course...lol
Anyway check out my $1500 yes $1500 (I payed the listing price) boat, motor, trailer. It was listed as a 22' on Craigslist. I guess he counted part of the bracket. The guy I bought from was overwhelmed and underskilled. He bought it from an old man who had a marina glass in the transom from the i/o and hang an old school Armstrong bracket with a 1988 150 crossflow counter rotate Johnson. I think it was done about the time the motor was new. The work seems good. This boat looks like it was trailered for a good portion of its life or kept in fresh/brackish water. Gelcoat still has tons of depth on the hull even though it doesn't look like it but what do you want for washing it with Orpine and bleach to get rid of the moss growing on it... Floor has one 8x10 soft spot I can live with for now. Transom and stringers are great. Hatches all could be recored and a million buttons from all the cushions and sunbrella he had on the boat. I had to rebuild the carbs since the boat sat on a 64 roller loadrite trailer for 6 years.( not that the rollers matter but I think this really helped this thing age well) Motor runs great , I grew up working on these old omc's. I have had her in the water two weeks and bought the boat only about a month ago. She runs good, just the way I like these boats, bow up and dry, 42 mph with the motor needing to move up 2 to 3 inches. Perfectly safe once I fix these scuppers and isn't an eyesore but I'm gonna make some changes over the next couple years Like t-top, flatten the rear floor, and white the whole thing out in AwlGrip, maybe add a little extra red in it so you can barely look at it in the sun without glasses...lol. Well maybe not that bright. But for now I'll be swinging dipsies into the side of it and not caring..j/k Ad Pic From Craigslist

Re: New Guy 1974 20sf old armstrong bracket
my Florida friends think I should be in jail...lol...Most of the guys up here cant seem to appreciate, to many years of telling temselves how nice Gradys are... god I couldn't tell you how many times Iv'e pounded around in those and splitting the gas bill for one to run offshore was never fun... but there are definitely more boat savvy people up my way than before though and the right guys know what these boats are...

Re: New Guy 1974 20sf old armstrong bracket
I have a 23' CC which was also a I/O at one time they removed the whole engine box and replaced it with two doors that are flush with the deck I will try and post some pictures of it. If you remove the whole engine box you will have so much more room in the boat. I have a similar open bracket currently but hopefully will have a new hermco bracket soon!
