Default Has anyone shipped boats internationaly?

Hi Guy's

I moved from Florida to Western Australia last year. I had to sell my seacraft at the time. I didnt know how long I would be here for or what the current boat market was like in West Aus. Well after being here for a year I need to get a decent boat shipped over. The boats here are complete garbage and very expensive! There are a few spots whe spearfish which are 30 miles offshore, we currently run out there in 16 and 18' homemade centre consoles and get the crap kicked out of us in the consistent 4' swell and afternoon seabreezes. I woud like to buy another classic seacraft, but am still a bit unsure on the shipping logisitics... Does anyone have any guidance?

Also Im looking for a 21-25' CC in good condition with a newer motor. IF you are selling please let me know email is: rpernst@gmail.com

Thanks for you help....

Here a few pictures of fish I have landed:

50+lb Blue Groper

2 Baldchin Groper and a WA Dhu Fish (only known to West Aus Waters)

Another WA Dhu Fish

Small Macky and a Baldie

Couple of Crays

My Current Boat, a 14' runabout with a 1980 Motor, a large step backwards from my 23'Sceptre... I take this boat 15miles offshore sometimes chasing mackerel. Now you know why I need a bigger boat.

G'day Rob.
Nice looking fishies.
The company I work for (Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines) ships San Diego to HI every other week. Based on recent shipments a 23' would run around 4K to get to the Islands. I can't help you with shipping to AUS. Few Seacrafts for sale on the west coast, but I know of at least 3 presently available In the LA area. A 25, a seavette and a 23, and maybe a 20 with a 115 optimax up in Riverside... Taurus Logistics (kiwi group)and I believe Matson also ships out of LA and probably out of Hono also. Might look them up...

Good luck!

Why don't you check with Riviera Boats, they are made in Australia and are shipped here all the time or just put the darn thing in a container. 20' would be fine for a 20' might be a little tight on the 23'.

Cheers Mc, Ill have a look at the 2 you mentioned.

Cayman, I Didnt think about riveria yachts, will try and track them down however I am in West Aus and I believe they are made on the goldie. Inside clear width on a container is 7'-8", If you know of someone who ships wider containers or can find me a decent boat with that width please let me know. Otherwise it's a specialty shipment.

Any help is greatly appreciated....

Thanks

I shipped a 29 whaler on a trailer to Anguilla from Jacksonville FL 3 years ago, and it was around 12k USD to ship.
Boat got beat up pretty good during the trip as I remember.

Rob, it turns out that my company Pasha Stevedore amd Terminals is the new stevedore for a new group called Shipping Partners and they have a Ro-Ro (roll on roll off) service from Wilmington CA (Port of LA) to AUS not sure of ports at this time. I'll try to get some contact info Tuesday.

Tropical Shipping in South Florida ships internationally in containers. It can be containerized, or as deck cargo on a trailer. They shrink-wrap all deck cargo. You'd undoubtedly have to ship from Miami here on the East coast. Tropical shipping buys deck space of Japanese and Korean ro-ros when they're headed home. My brother shipped a car from Jax to Okinawa in a container three years ago. Cost was about $4K not counting import duty on the car, which was British. (American cars are much more)

Allmand Boats in Miami sells a variety of Chinese made fiberglas boats, including a copy of the 20' SeaCraft SF.
You can see it here.
Check out their website. You can order the boat shipped directly to you in AUS. Perhaps someone in Miami could check out the boat model for you?

Rob, here's the info on Partner Shipping. They are a Norwegian group and are running a triangle down the west coast of N. America, down under, and up to Japan before retuning to N. America. http://www.partnershipping.no/

Fr. Frank's idea looked pretty good...

Thanks for all the help boys...

Those boats are DIRT cheap, which scares me a bit. Anyone ever been on one..."made in china" always scares me, not to mention I wouldnt want to give those rice eating commi's anymore of my money than I already have too!

I've seen the 21' Panga with the cuddy. A friend in Destin, FL bought one about a year ago. It's a nice boat. The wood trim is beautiful, but it's all varnished. The hardware is all stainless, and the hull looks, feels, and sounds solid. You gotta be 5'9" or taller to see out the windshield when you're standing, though. I'd put a step box in front of the helm. Max HP is 115 on his boat, and the transom is 20".
He paid just under 22K for the boat, 90 hp motor and a cheap galvanized single-axle trailer. He got a 90hp Yamaha 2 stroke.

The 20' Seacraft copy with stainless and fioberglass T-top is only $12,988 INCLUDING shipping. You'd be on the hook for your own motor and trailer.

Or Become a dealer and get two for only $9,888 each.
