Hull Identification Number on a 1969 20ft CC?
I just purchased a 1969 Seacraft 20ft CC recently and I need help in locating the Hull Identification Number (HIN). First off, does this year even have one? If so, where would it be? Would it be engraved in the fiberglass? I couldn't find anything inside the hatches in the back, though i didn't have the best light. Thanks, Mitchman

Mitch
No worries, those years were not required for HIN's, I registered mine today it is a 73 and did not get asked, but told them I would put an ID on the hull. You should think about having the state register a number to it if you ever get boarded it will make life easier!!! |

Re: Hull Identification Number on a 1969 20ft CC?
The reason I need it is the state of Mass requires a pencil rubbing of the number when you submit your registration.
I inspected the boat today and found where the plate for the HIN would go, but, unfortunately there was no plate, just two screws and the shadow from the plate. The boat has a number on the title though, so the reg office told me to just put on a new plate and engrave the # into it. Any idea where I can get one of these plates? |

Re: Hull Identification Number on a 1969 20ft CC?
mitchman,
As long as there is a title with a state-provided HIN (it should begin with MSZ and be 12 characters long), you're all set. When I bought a '72 Seabird several years ago, it had a state-issued HIN on the title so no problems. The EPO official at the registration office suggested I stamp the HIN somewhere in the boat but did not mandate it as a condition for registering the boat. |
