Default Applying non-skid

I'm about ready to apply non skid to the gunwale tops and floor of my 20'sf. I'll be spraying Interlux perfection. Then will be shaking the non skid on. My question is how many coats of paint do you apply before applying the non skid and how long do you wait to shake on the non skid. Also, how long do you wait to come back and paint over the non skid after its been applied and how many coats. One last question. Would it be alright to apply the non skid, put a coat or two of paint on top then let it dry over night. The following day, pull the tape and repaint everything (areas under the tape and non skid).

There are a few very good threads on applying non-skid which I used doing my boat. I'm sure you can find them again. I sprayed mine with very good results & then put a paint coat or two over the top to seal it all in. If you spray, an inexpensive gravity feed sprayer from Harbor Freight will work fine. Post some pictures if you stay with the shake method.

I used the fine nonskid product from awlgrip, mixed it in the paint and then applied with a foam roller until I reached the desired texture with good results.

I applied the nonskid to my deck using a nylon looped roller that suspended the nonskid in the paint. I taped the deck so the original nonskid pattern was kept. It came out very well. I have also tried applying it by hand and with a "flour" shaker but did not obtain the results as I did with the roller.
Good luck.
