Issues I have had with Garmin and signal in the past I have fixed by cleaning the female ends on the multipin cord that plugs into the back of the unit. I take a very small point and scrape out green corrosion looking crap.

I have done this with flush mount and top mount units. if that does not do it let me know. I may have a spare antenna for that model but I will have to find it.

I recently installed a Garmin 541s on my boat and remember the instructions stating that there should be no other device which might cause interferance, ie., compass, etc. close to the unit. Do you have anything close to it that may interfere with the signal?

hi, yes i do have a vhf right under it, and a fishfinder right next to it, but i don't have either one on when trying to find a signal, do you think that would still affect it?, thanks mike

Have you called Garmin? I think I remember them being good to deal with on the phone. But maybe that was Hummingbird. It may be something real simple. Also if your antenna is on your t top or other area check the entire length of the cable for odd crimps etc. I know a guy who searched and searched for solutions and came to find it was a rat chewed wire just inside the chase.

PM me and I will look for the antenna this weekend in my warehouse.

I wouldn't think so, but, I don't know. I'd call Garmin. Good luck with it.
