20' CC -- where to locate tank/center console
Hi,
My brother is picking up a 1974 20' CC that needs to be rebuilt. The boat will get a bracket along with a 115 - 130 4stroke. He's going to build his own center console is there any recommended location fore/aft to put the center console to help balance the boat? He also needs to put in a fuel tank -- recommendations on maker and how far forward to place it? Thanks! |

Re: 20' CC -- where to locate tank/center console
Lots of good tank manufacturers out there. Several in Florida. I used RDS Aluminum for a duplicate of the original tank for my '72 Seafari and I am well pleased. They are in Perry, near Tallahassee. They can duplicate or do custom tanks.

Re: 20' CC -- where to locate tank/center console
Greetings
My recomondation is to set the tank in the middle of the boat and about 12 inches aft of the oringal postion you will find you have a better ride |

Re: 20' CC -- where to locate tank/center console
Most folks move tank (and batteries) FORWARD because today's motors are so much heavier than what these boats were designed for in the mid-60's! If you shift the CG aft, don't expect it to ride or perform the way it was designed to!

Re: 20' CC -- where to locate tank/center console
I am positioning my tank as far forward as I can and setting the batteries under the console on my 20'MA. The new tank will be 50 gal and 75" long. My thoughts on this are same as Bushwaker said - motor is heavy and hopefully not too much weight in the back and some good scuppers may keep the water out. I am setting a new (smaller) console in the same general area as the old one.
