Default David Garrard 2nd Annual Fishing for the Cure

Fished the David Garrard tournament for the 2nd year in a row out of St. Augustine. For those that don't follow sports Garrard is the QB for the Jags and has a tournament that supports breast cancer awareness. Like last year it was slow. Beautiful on the water but lack of wind and current had weed scattered and became tired of continually clearing lines. We picked up a few decent mahi before heading out to the deep looking for the man in the blue suit. After about 30 minutes a Shimano 50 started screaming from the tower. I scrambled up and passed the rod down to the another angler. The fish basically dumped the reel and I thought was going to spool it. After seeing what looked like a water cannon several hundred yards behind the boat the line broke. Most awesome thing I've ever witnessed while fishing even if we came up empty. Oh well!

Looks like another great day off St. Auggie, even if a little slow. Fishing for a good cause is tough to top. Sounds like an exciting moment with the big hook-up, and shoot, dodos are always a blast. WTG, WT
