Welcome to CSC george....

Your HIN indicates your hull was a Savage model (G)
built in 1978!

Is there a hin de-coder somewhere for these boats? I have a 72 with no HIN.I believe it may be earlier, I have a serial #23052 I know its a 23 "open fisherman" boat.

Pre-73 (before 12-character HINs) there is no formal decoder, although I would guess the first 2 digits in your serial # are the size/length and the last 3 are the hull #.

Looks like a partial HIN. The F is the model and 008 is the hull #. You should have 3 more letters before the F and 4 more numbers after the 8 for a complete HIN.
