Default Bought my first boat!(20' Seafari)

Finally had the money and the opportunity to make it happen.

She needs work but that's okay.

Yea... that's your standard builders carpet for houses... I ripped out some already(it was basically one big chunk of mold/fungus). Debating what I want to do now, thinking about cleaning it up and painting it. What do you guys think? Any suggestions on a solvent to get the glue up without messing anything up? I plan on pulling the rest of the carpet out this weekend.

The Deck is solid, except for one very small soft spot. It does have these cracks though. Is this normal?

And lastly, the chips in the hull and worn down bow...

Are these an issue? Can/Should I do anything to repair them?

This weekend(well, fri-tue) I plan on putting in a dual-bilge set up, a dual-battery set up( Dual Battery Set-up ), radio, antenna, nav lights and an anchor roller on the bow. Probably going to reinforce the bow similar to this:
Anchor Bracket

Lots of work but I'm looking forward to doing it. I did smash the hell out of my thumb today though... I'm hoping the nail doesn't fall off. That would make this all very unfun.

Max - congratulations on selecting a Seafari! I think you will be amazed at how versatile that model is. I was in the middle of posting a long reply to your questions when my browser crashed, so I lost everything I had written! Will send you a PM. Suggest you reply to it with an e-mail address and we can communicate that way. My e-mail auto-saves so it avoids that problem! I have a lot of Seafari info I can send you. Denny

Congrats on the new boat.

Get something like a Sentinel 626 adhesive remover. That should take most of it off. Goo gone is about as good as anything that I have found though........unless of course they used the stupid stupid glue that they did on mine when I redid my deck last winter.
If its stubborn wet it down and put a piece of Saran wrap on it and let it soak so it doesn't dry out. Not much will really "hurt" your gelcoat.

You may have to enlist some extra help though.

Congratulations and welcome to the club. If I didn't already have the 18, I would be huntin' for a 20 Seafari as well. Nice score!

Seacraftitis, best kind of sickness there is.

You will absolutely love the Seafari. I had a 20 for years and bought a 25 when I needed a bigger boat, cause there is no other design that works as well.

The keel spots need fixing and get rid of the soft spot before it spreads. You will probably find that the bad balsa extends over a larger area than it feels like. There is a huge amt of info available here on how to do the fixes.

That bow damage is from the trailer not being set up right and looks like it needs some help. Can't believe he let the bow drag on the crossmemeber that long.
