Question Hydr. steering fill

Can someone please tell me the proper way to fill your hydraulic steering with fluid? I'm going to get one of those Teleflex hoses with threads on both ends (to filler neck and to the bottle of fluid) but after that not sure- I heard you have to fill while rotating the steering wheel, then bleed air out- thanks for any help.

On my u-flex I cut the bottom side out of a quart of oil. mounted it upside down attached to a hose to the fill port on the helm. Attached a hose to the cylinder bleeder and loosened it. Turned the wheel in the appropriate direction and kept filling the jug with what was being expelled out the cylinder end so as not to get any air in it. when the bubbles were gone I switched over to the other bleeder and turned the wheel the other way.

I tried squeezing fluid into the helm but that wasnt working.

I made it sound way more difficult than it really was.

Hey Ken....thanks for bringing this four year old thread back up!!! I'm still flabergasted how smart and funny most everyone is on this forum. Some smarter than others....some with more added comic value.

As you have said on many occasions...."ya gotta have thick skin"!! How true. Just wanted to let you know I had forgot about your home made enema kit with the 90 degree insertion elbow. Still get a laugh or two out of it.
