Yami 225 on a 23 SF
Just picked up a rebuilt 225 ox66 for my 23. Would like to know what kind of numbers other owners are getting with the motor. Also prop size and any other 411 would be great.

i have had a 23 with a 200 2 stroke and one with a 225 four, i have found a 17 yami prop has been the best all around prop. you should turn up the the right rpm wot @ 5500 , you should cruise at @ 4100 at 30mph and wot i bet you can get 42-45 depending on loads and condition of bottom. I ran 41 with the 200 two stoke with a painted bottom in ok shape , i get 44 out of my 225 four stroke with a baby butt smooth no bottom paint. That 225 will push you faster than my 225 four stroke. Enjoy !

i have never had fuel management system, but i had the 23 with the 2 stroke 200 a long time and i had two tanks , i feel like i got on average 2 miles per gallon if i didn't really let her eat a lot (run it hard ie over 5000) you will prob do right around that on yours , my 200 was a carb. 1997. i have only had second 76 23 for a year (200 hrs this year) and i am thinking i am getting @ 2.5 and buying no oil , i might be doing a little better. Gonna try and get the fuel management system this year.

Hate to say it, but depending on the year, rebuilt, or not rebuilt, that block is considered to have some of the worst fuel economy. I'll get a full gph sheet going here soon as the ocean calms down a bit.

I run a Yami 225 (2 stroke) on my 23' Sceptre with a very smooth bottom with
No bottom paint. I cruise at 30 mph at 4200 rpms and use 11 gph netting out at around 2.70 mpg. WOT is 39 mph at 5200 rpms at 17gph netting out about 2.2 mpg. I run a 17 pitch 3 blade aluminum prop that is in mint condition. I also have a pretty stout hardtop With rigging that creates some wind resistance. My motor is a 1988, but has a newer Powerhead (1998) with about 500 hours on it.

I know the these older 2 strokes are thirsty engines, but the budget is what it is, unless Lotto hits the 2 smoker will have to get me there. J241600, Is yours an 0x66?

I had an '02 225 OX66 on my 22' Whaler w/4 blade 17P Solas; 2-2.5 My '01 250 OX66 on my 23' SeaCraft w/bracket same prop gets about the same IF you behave I've also had a 150 and 200 on other boats. They are one of the most reliable, dependable motors but like gas and oil. Keep the LP fuel pumps changed ~ 2yrs., HP pump tank/screen clean, and O2 sensor clean and they're great.

Thanks relescape1.. all I've heard is good thing about these motors, with the exception of them being thirsty. Those number are more or less what I was speculating. The only way to know for sure is to actually run the boat. Curiosity is a killer when you're setting up a boat in the off season and there's still months to go before launching.
