Default New guy looking into buying a mid 80's 23cc seacraft

Just wanted to say hi and I'm looking for some info as I'm looking into buying a mid 80's cc 23 seacraft. Boat seems to be in good shape and I'm giving it a hard look. I was wondering if there is anything I should take a extra look at..?... I love these boats and I really excited about what might be my next big purchase.Any help would be great....thanks

Be sure to check the stern for flex, do this by jumping on the motors cavitation plate in the down and half tilted position. If you notice any deflection in the transom you'll be looking at doing some transom work. Decks being solid is a good thing also.

What year is 80's?

Those are the 2 biggest things to look for. Personally i woldnt pay much for one unless its in fine condition, rehabbing costs can get expensive quickly. A survey can save you a lot of $$. Good luck, and we all love to see pictures of your new rig.

Thanks for the reply's everyone! Its a 87(yes... I read on here its a trophy or tracker/I forget which one not that one is better than the other, lol) and seems to be in ok shape. I would say a 6.5 out of a 10. Floor seems to be solid but the boat is kept outside soooo you know how that goes. It looks as there might have been some minor transom work done already. Honestly.....what price tag would you throw on this boat if the motor is in ok shape? The motor is a 225 merc efi with unknown hrs. And future plans are to fill in the transom and put a bracket on it and that's it. Just fish it...gas it... and do reg maintenance on it and let it ride. I really appreciate all of the help guys!

Just do your research...shop C/L ebay and most of all this sites for sale topic. Boats are real cheap now...especially with the price of fuel going north.

The easiest way to come up with a price that you are comfortable with is break down the components.

Trailer
Motor
Gear

Then the hull.

By doing this you will become a expert real quick on pricing boats...including Seacraft.

So what would you feel would be a good price for this rig....8k ?.... 2k for trailer,1000 for electronics, 2000 for motor, 3 k for hull.., so a total of $8k? Or does that seem a little high?

If that's a good running motor and the transom is sound, 8k is a good price. You should also add in the T-top.

It looks as if the transom my have been cut down for some reason,I have never seen on that was designed that way but it could have been on the later models. If the engine is decent it would probably fetch between 6 and 7k here in the north east.

Short Answer here in FL. would be around 5-6K...remember if you have to put money into the boat you subtract from the cost. Or add to the cost and say what could I get for a few grand more,
