I had a 80# minnkota on my 18' cc. Requires 2 batteries. You WILL need atleast 80 lbs of thrust for the 20 with any wind or current situations.

I say had because of lack of use. I could troll into some pretty skinny water but the fish around here know the sound of an electric motor and will turn off. Most of my trips now are near shore reefs and I couldn't justify the extra weight.

Don't get me wrong, a 20' cc with a high thrust trolling motor is very fishable down to about a 1' of water. My 18 with the 375# 150 Johnson WILL float shallower than a 20' Lake n Bay with big, heavy V -6 Mercs and full livewells that most of the flats jockeys like to run. Been there many times...

I see your in Port Charlotte so we fish the same waters. Im down here in North Fort Myers.

You'll be happy with one. I personally would get a tiller controlled 80# bow mount minn kota 60" shaft. I had the auto pilot model. The internal compass went bad a few times.

I keep 2 batteries in the forward storage locker which are for the trolling motor and a starting battery in the cc. I have a motorguide 86# thrust and since I mostly fish for stripers it gets used every time I go out. A bow mount trolling motor works GREAT on the 20 sf. A necessary piece of equipment that I could not fish without.
