In my Bravo days we never got into gear ratios or actual weights. We used to refer to girls we had on the boat as Bravo I, II or III's.

Bravo I's were nice.

Bravo II's were like mopeds... fun to ride but you did not want your friends to see you on one.

Bravo III's were the ones left over as the bar was closing. Big and beefy. The one that made the girl you liked look better because she was so bad.

I doubt that helps but the wife is out of town and I am remembering my younger days.

As far as the cummins goes I was wanting to install forward under the console and run a shaft out to the Out drive...Since this boat is not equiped with straight shaft inboard..

The Bravo drives have the gear ratio stamped on the input shaft. Unfortunately, you have to pull the drive to see it.

Martin,
If you are talking about hooking-up a Bravo 2 to a Cummins 5.9 @ 315hp I would not advise it; the torque of that motor will make quick work of that drive's gears and cone clutch.

I know CMD/MerCruiser was offering a 5.9 rated at 250hp mated to a Bravo (the "X" or diesel rated version); not sure if that is stil the case. Also, some have had success mating certain Bravo's (diesel rated) to Yanmar 4LH and 6LP motors (horsepower ranges from 240hp to 315hp if memory serves correct) with better longevity due to their lower torque.

I know this does not answer the ratio question ((though I would suggest visiting the CMD/MerCruiser website and see if that 5.9/Bravo set-up is still advertised - it may list ratios) but hope it helps. Good luck.
