Default Would this work for rod storage?

Has anyone tried using something like this for gunwale rod storage in say a 20'er? As long as the dimensions are good, I can't see why it wouldn't work.

Thanks,
Paul

i think if you install those you are going to see your rod tips in the front OE rod storage area. but other than that i guess it would work. you dont like the front rod holder area on the SC?

Yeah, I think they're ok. I would like to get a couple pair of those holders/hooks to accommodate fly rod storage up front.

i made mine out of 1/2 inch starboard nothing fancy but works, you could add PVC tubing into the back section of the originals for long fly rods and place them in rod tip facing back, make the holders any way you need then to hold the reels and add bungy cord to strap them in. just an idea...

I used some of those inside my mako, they worked good but because of the foamed in rails (I could only dig so much of it out) it limited the size of rods I could put in there.
Mike over on the Mako board just made some for his 25, that fits his fly rods.

Wink

i store fly rods in the factory rod storage area on an '86 21sf. I used 1/2" starboard to replace the wood rod racks and added a 1/2 by 1/2 strip on the outside with a pivot screw in the middle. just pivot the strip to open or close. it works fine with long fly rods, just make sure there aren't any wires for the bow lights that can tangle up the tips.

I had thoose same ones ona 21 cobia worked well id think on a 20sc would also and. Ot have to bend the rod like i do on the bow holders i have now.
The knly thing i didnt like was the reels tended to stick out in the way when not fishing

Thanks, hugo. I need to play with the longest 9'er I have to figure out which end will work best.

Thanks, Patrick. I'll check that out. Can you tell me where you got those rod holders for your old Mako?

Thanks, Parker. I appreciate it.

Good point, Mike. I bet that'd be a problem with the SC 20, too. The gunnels aren't very deep.
