Default raw water cooled 250 ci with sea water pumps/intakes

I was thinking of doing away with my outdrive water pumps and adding sea water pumps with intakes (like on an inboard) on my Tsunami's 250 ci motors...
Is this feasible....or is it a waste of time, money etc...would the outdrives suffer damage etc.? and how would I deal/disconnect with/the water pumps in outdrives...
I got this idea from a Bertram I saw for sale ..he said he did raw water intakes for engines and did away with water pumps in outdrives but he did not know how the mechanic did it!
Any advice and direction appreciated
Thanks in advance
-Fred

Fred,
Why? I mean, if it ain't broke, why fix it?

Bravo drives can be set up the way you're talking about because the raw water pump is on the engine, not in the drive. You can get a block off kit for the Bravo drives, but I don't know if one would be available for a drive with the water pump in the lower unit.

Bravos can be set up with redundant intakes, one through the drive, and a 1.25" raw water through-hull. This is the recommended configuration for closed cooled models, and how I set mine up. Maybe you could use a similar configuration.
