Default Another old race boat?

I really enjoy the threads about the old SeaCraft race boats....esp the mystery of figuring out the lineage when one pops up later in life. Found another one, much like the one in the sale section, alive and well as a CC. This one is cheap, but I'm not posting to get it sold. Im more interested in the stories....let's hear em!

It was a MercTest Boat that was bought from Merc by Randy Rabe. I've been drooling over it for a few weeks.

That trailer alone is worth the $$$. Unfortunately it'll cost me 10x's that in attorney fees if I get another boat Hope someone buys it before I go crazy.

Merc test boat...does this mean never raced? Would love to see pics of the original set up, or stories. When is someone going to bring one of these back to a retro racer style restoration? That would be awesome!

According to the owner this was used by merc to figure out how to rig the race boats. It's the same race hull.

Good luck finding history. Rather than bugging the seller (unless you intend to buy it) . . . you might try contacting Parker Rabe http://www.rabcoboats.com/ and see if he has any knowledge of this hull that he is willing to share.

Randy and Parker's Rabco hull is 28 memco (magnum 27 hull). I'm sure there is a good story as to why they picked the memco/magnum hull over this seacraft hull. I suspect that the magnum27/cigarette28/memco28 lends itself better to be rigged out as a fishing hull. Either way Randy Rabe like the seacraft hull enough to buy it from Mercury for himself. I'm pretty sure contender 21, 23, 25 (28ft) are variations of the magnum hull too.

Have Mason jar will travel. This is too good to pass up. Is it really 3 G`s? Wide OPen is gonna be PISSED. Wicked pissed. That boat is wicked pissah. Wicked.

Richard said his 27 would flat out smoke his new 31 Contender. Gotta rent a truck...where can I put this beauty? Even if I take out the fence and hedge, cut down the tree, and angle park it, I don`t think it`ll fit. Who has a 250 Ocean Pro they are lookin` to sell?

Have cabbage will travel,
